Product information

KLARA linseed oil deck soap with beeswax – 1 liter

This is not a standard deck soap.

It is an overfatted linseed oil soap developed for Nordic climates, modern decking and wood that is meant to last.

KLARA deck soap cleans gently without raising the wood grain. At the same time, it reconditions the surface so the deck retains its natural smooth feel and long-term resilience – even after repeated treatments. The result is a clean deck that ages more evenly and stays attractive for longer.

Linseed oil as the foundation

The base is Swedish linseed oil – a classic raw material with a long tradition in wood care and surface treatment. The linseed oil provides the nourishing effect and gradually builds protection within the wood instead of merely removing dirt.

To improve application and performance further, we also add Swedish rapeseed oil. It helps the soap penetrate more evenly, improves distribution and makes the product easier to work with, both for deep cleaning and ongoing maintenance.

Enriched with beeswax

What sets KLARA apart from traditional linseed oil soap is the addition of beeswax. Beeswax contributes to a natural, long-lasting protective effect that helps the deck resist moisture, dirt and drying.

The protection builds gradually without forming sealed layers and without altering the structure or feel of the wood.

The result is a more durable surface and more even aging over time. Read more about beeswax.

Overfatted formula

The soap is overfatted not only to clean, but also to replenish natural oils in the wood with every treatment. Less drying, less wear and a surface that improves with regular care.

Size

1 liter

The 1-liter format makes it easy to purchase the right amount. It provides good control over coverage and works well for both smaller patios and larger decks where additional bottles can be added as needed.

Scent

Natural soap scent. No added fragrance.

The mild scent comes from the soap itself. No perfume is added, as it adds no functional benefit and would unnecessarily impact the environment.

Manufacturing and ingredients

Manufactured in Sweden.

Based on linseed oil with added rapeseed oil and beeswax.

Coverage

As a guideline, 1 liter typically covers approximately 20–30 m² under normal conditions.

Overfatted deck soap – wood care, not just cleaning

Our deck soap is developed for those who want to care for the wood, not just make it look clean.

It cleans gently while reconditioning the surface and helping the deck retain its natural richness and long-term resilience. The result is a deck that ages evenly, feels more comfortable underfoot and becomes easier to maintain season after season.

This is deck care built on an understanding of wood – not quick fixes.

Three reasons to choose overfatted deck soap

Gentle on the wood

Cleans effectively without damaging the grain. The result is a more even surface that stays attractive longer and becomes easier to maintain over time.

Overfatted formula

Reconditions the surface gently and evenly after cleaning. Helps the wood retain its natural richness and become more resilient season after season.

Developed for Nordic climates

Designed for outdoor decks exposed to rain, sun, frost and seasonal wear. A method that works in real conditions – not just on the label.

For decking and the entire outdoor space

The deck soap is developed for exterior wood and works just as well on large surfaces as on smaller details. Use it on decking, stairs, railings, outdoor furniture and other wooden elements where you want to clean gently while caring for the surface.

If you’d like to see how to apply the method on different surfaces, read the guide here:

How to use KLARA deck soap

Soak the deck thoroughly with a garden hose until the wood is fully saturated. Mix the deck soap in warm water and work section by section. Brush along the grain, allow it to work for a minute without drying, then rinse thoroughly.

Once the deck is clean and completely dry, apply the main treatment to restore its soft, matte finish and make it easier to maintain over time. Use a richer, overfatted soap mixture, apply along the grain and allow it to dry in. Do not rinse.

The full method is described here: How to clean and recondition your deck – step by step.

For most decks, one thorough treatment in spring is enough, followed by light maintenance as needed during summer and a final cleaning in autumn. A simple rhythm keeps the deck fresh without large seasonal projects.

Coverage and planning

Coverage depends on the condition of your deck and whether you are performing a cleaning or a main treatment.

Frequently asked questions

A soaped deck is normally not slippery when dry. In rain, all wooden surfaces can become more slippery, especially if algae or dirt is present. Regular cleaning and keeping the deck free from algae makes the biggest difference.

More practical answers here: Practical questions about deck soap

Yes. Pressure-treated decking often responds very well to regular soaping, as the method cleans gently while allowing the wood to breathe.

Deck soap is formulated specifically for exterior wood and is often overfatted, meaning it both cleans and reconditions the surface over time. Regular household soap may clean effectively, but does not always provide the same long-term wood care effect on decking.
